Coordinators

LGBTOUT is managed by a group of coordinators who are elected in April. An 'Exec-at-large' is elected in the fall. Under the direction of the general membership, the coordinators strive to make LGBTOUT a friendly, welcoming organization with events and activities that serve the needs of our communities.

External Coordinator: Carl S.
Responsible for liasing with groups and individuals outside of the University of Toronto, including ACT, LGBTQ groups at other schools and the media.

Financial Coordinator: James M.
Responsible for overseeing LGBTOUT's financial affairs.

Internal Coordinator: Jacob W.
Responsible for overseeing LGBTOUT's day-to-day operations and maintaining LGBTOUT's infrastructure, including the Drop-In Centre and the Listservs.

Political and Education Coordinator: Jessica P.

Social Coordinator: David I.

Mailing Lists

LGBTOUT maintains a number of electronic mailing lists (listservs) that we use to keep our membership informed. Depending on how much email traffic you're comfortable with, and what sort of information you want, you may want to sign up for:

General Discussion
This is our busiest list. Postings of events on campus and in the community, and open chat/discussion on queer issues. Sometimes contentious, sometimes annoying, but rarely dull.

LGBTOUT and Community Events
This is a read-only list which sends out announcements of queer and/or social-justice related events happening both on campus and in the broader community.

LGBTOUT Events
A read-only list that sends out announcements of only LGBTOUT events and activities, including the Homohop and general meetings.

Note that these listservs are redundant; there is no need to subscribe to more than one.

Committees

LGBTOUT's committees plan and organize events and activities, and work on projects throughout the school year. They are a great way to meet people, develop skills and get involved with creating change on campus. New members and ideas are always welcome.

Homohop Committee
The Homohop committee is responsible for planning, organizing, and running Homohops, all ages dances held monthly throughout the year.

Hussihop Committee
The Hussihop committee is responsible for planning, organizing, and running hussihops. Hussihops are the sister event to Homohops. They are all ages dance and performance events focused on womyn and trans people.

Anti-Oppression Committee
The anti-oppression committee works both proactively and reactively to challenge oppression (homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, sexism, etc.) on campus.

Zine Committee
The zine committee designs and produces OUTLET, the LGBTOUT zine.

LGBTOUT Chapters and Groups

These groups are an opportunity for people within LGBTOUT to come together around shared issues of identity or interests.

BBQ (Bisexual, Bi-Curious, Questioning)
BBQ is a group for people who are bisexual/ bicurious/questioning. We usually meet once a month for a social, discussion, or outing. BBQ is a bi-positive group where confidentiality is stressed as we are all at different stages of being out.

Book Club
The LGBTOUT Book Club meets every month to discuss literature and novels. The book club often talks about books with queer or queer positive content.

Engineering Chapter
The engineering chapter is a social group for LGBTQ students in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Engineering. Mathies and other science types welcome too!

Genderqueer Group
This is a space for U of T students who identify as two-spirited, genderqueer, transsexual, transgendered, gender neutral, FTM, MTF, drag kings, drag queens and everything else in between and their significant others, friends, family and allies to discuss relevant issues.

Grad Student Chapter
The grad student chapter is a welcoming space for graduate students, professional faculty students, upper-year undergraduates, staff, faculty, and alumni. We meet every other week at the GSU pub for friendly socials.

Womyn's Group
The womyn's group gets involved with issues affecting womyn and holds socials and discussion groups. The Womyn's group also organizes Grrls' nite out, a monthly social open to all queer and questioning womyn. The Womyn's Group is welcoming to MTF and FTM trans people.
